Features Assessment

Condition, installation and operational assessment of doors, windows, building envelopes, stairs and other building features subject to wear, deterioration and operational failures. Window and door system failures. Water intrusion and building envelope failures due to thin veneers, EIFS, brick, stone and concrete spalling, rainwater gutter and flashing system failures, roofing system, expansion joints, and sealant and caulk system failures.

Code and Safety Compliance

Building and property maintenance codes and standards, means of egress, unprotected openings in floors and walls, guards, glass and glazing, doors and windows and other features that can contribute to the safety, or lack thereof in the built environment.

Premises Safety

Stairs, including the measurement and analysis of stair geometry, handrails, guards, and single step transitions, misaligned walking surfaces, grates, sidewalk and parking lot surfaces, low obstructions, landscaping features, steep or unmarked slopes, and maintenance of pedestrian walkways including the analysis of site and building drainage issues contributing to the formation of ice.

Defects, low obstructions and/or contaminants on sidewalks, stairs, ramps, in parking lots, retail establishments, big box stores, supermarkets or any place a pedestrian is likely to walk can cause a slip, trip and fall incident. Analysis includes the physical condition of the built environment and potential contaminant(s) that may create dangerous conditions
